Hooves 4 Hope at Fresh Meadows...
THERAPEUTIC RIDING PROGRAM FOR ABUSED, NEGLECTED AND AT-RISK KIDS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 5 AND 18 AT NO COST!
Our Mission:
To promote emotional healing and growth in partnership with horses.
Hooves 4 Hope, Inc. will provide equine assisted psychotherapy through horsemanship and horseback riding lessons for abused, neglected and other at-risk kids between the ages of 5 and 18, at no cost. We will address challenges the kids face such as depression, low self-esteem, attention deficit disorder, anxiety and the effects of divorce, death or separation from a parent for any reason. Working with the horses will help the kids learn communication skills, coping skills and ways to control their anger. The kids will learn to lead, groom, bathe, feed, ride and drive and generally care for the horses. In learning to care for the horses, our kids will learn to care for themselves and others. Equine assisted activities have been shown to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination and well-being. And it’s fun!!!
Volunteers run the Hooves 4 Hope program. Our volunteers include an equine veterinarian, trained licensed experienced therapists, experienced horse trainers and riding instructors. Each child will be matched with one horse and one volunteer and will meet once or twice weekly for 1-2 hour sessions at Fresh Meadows.

“THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THE OUTSIDE OF A HORSE THAT IS GOOD FOR THE INSIDE OF A MAN.” WINSTON CHURCHILL
We are accepting new students into our program and looking for experienced horse people to volunteer. And as always, we can use grant writers and other financial help, as we are an all volunteer, non-profit organization.
