A RESCUE STORY
Mary arrived at Fresh Meadows on December 6, 2006 pregnant and with a colt by her side.
Mary and Joey were two of 70+ horses rescued from a farm in Washington County. They were among a group of horses taken to Days End Farm Horse Rescue that needed medical attention. Dr. Molesworth offered to take a pregnant mare to care for so she and staff member Jackie Cunningham went up to Days End to pick her up. Upon their return the rest of the staff were surprised to see a foal along with the pregnant mare.
As they came with only hip numbers as identification, they were given the names – Mary and Joey. Both were very under nourished and in need of worming. Both also had matted manes and tails and bad coats. They were put under quarantine for 30 days and started on a feeding program.

And both have flourished...
Mary has gained weight and her coat is looking great.
A very pregnant Mary.
Mary gave birth to a filly on August 20, 2007. Unfortunally, the filly, Summer, had health issues and even after having been sent to New Bolton Center for surgery, she had to be put down.
