Fresh Meadows'
Miracle Foal

Using the placenta from a new born
foal to try to have it's mare adopt Ming Ming.

Ming Ming had her good days and bad days but was recovering from her kidney failure. Adoption by another mare who had given birth in early April was tried. Little Ming Ming was willing but the mare was not.

Ming Ming and friends.

Since the adoption by the mare didn’t work, a companion was found for Ming Ming – Noel, a pygmy goat. They shared a stalled but there was no bonding there. Alone but never lonely, this little girl has acquired a great affection for a good petting. When Ming Ming was taken off the bottle, Noel was sent home. Now able to have pasture time during the day, Ming Ming’s new companion was an older mare. Again, there was no great affection between them but Ming Ming was not by herself in the field. A mare and foal was added to give Ming Ming a little socializing and it wasn’t long before the older mare was removed.

Things were looking up for Ming Ming when on May 13th she was found in the pasture with an open fracture. She was taken to New Bolton Center for surgery where she was given less than a 5% chance of survival. At approximately 2 months old and 180 pounds Ming Ming now had 2 plates and 19 screws in her left hind femur.

About 10 days after surgery, Ming Ming gets a visit from Dr. Molesworth and staff member Jackie Cunningham.
